The Personality Mod: Version 1.2.2

Compatible with Patch 1.91

Change Log:
1 September 2022 ~ Version 1.2.2
~ Updated Russian translation.
~ Removed Career wants from Whimsets.

August 26th 2022 (Version 1.2.1)
~ Removed the reactionary Dance Want from the Pleasure Sim trait. This was irritating beyond belief and shouldn’t have been there in the first place.
~ Updated all the whimsets for compatibility with my upcoming Hopes & Fears mod.

July 30th 2022 (Version 1.2)
~ Updated for compatibility with the new Wants. Please redownload and delete ANY old version of this mod. Also make sure you have the latest update of the XML Injector.

————————————–

The Personality Mod is the first larger mod I’ve made for The Sims 4.

You Will Need:

  • XML Injector ~ This makes the traits show up in the reward store. Don’t worry; the XML Injector doesn’t add anything to your game, it just allows this mod to work as intended. You need at least Version 3.
  • Custom Wants Mod ~ This is a loader mod for all my custom wants, so if you want my new custom-made wants, you’ll need to download this too.

What Does It Do?

The Personality Mod adds 6 reward traits to the Reward Store. Each of these traits are inspired by the six Aspirations from Sims 2: Family, Fortune, Knowledge, Pleasure, Popularity and Romance. Each trait costs 0 Satisfaction Points, so you can add the traits to newly created sims, straight out of Create-A-Sim.

Each trait has it’s own set of Wants and those wants are directly inspired by the appropriate Wants from Sims 2. Because of this, the reward traits act like a base personality and influence the wants your Sim puts in.
For example, a Fortune Sim may wish to own their own business; a Family Sim may want to have a baby or adopt a dog; A Knowledge Sim will be curious about the supernatural etc.
The traits do not have any Buffs or interactions associated with them; just wants.

The Aspiration Addon Package

With the update on 18th December 2021, I added a separate addon package contain three new traits: Grilled Cheese, Power and Creativity, due to popular request. These are NOT essential but more an optional extra, should you want them.

The Wants

While there were some excellent wants available to suit each trait, I felt like many were missing. As a result, I set about creating my own. The Custom Wants Mod contains dozens of new wants and many have been assigned to the traits from The Personality mod. Among those wants are several wants for individual careers. Each of those wants will only turn up if a Sim has certain traits or skills, so they won’t be random.

Once again, the new wants are based on Wants from Sims 2 and should line up fairly nicely.

The Technical Details
This mod is Base Game Compatible.

Translations
The mod currently supports the following translations:
English (Me)
Chinese (GreenOnionC)
Danish (Josie)
Dutch (Britt Boons)
French (Kimikosoma)
German (Hendrik McSims)
Italian (Isy)
Polish (webkinzfrog)
Portuguese (Viniciusvill) (abronte)
Russian (Origamika)
Spanish (Sabrina Garcia)

Known Issues
~ The Grilled Cheese Sim trait currently has no Wants attached to it. This is because Maxis decided not to update any of the whims I’d used with this, so I’ll need to do it myself. Watch this space!

Conflicts
This mod doesn’t conflict with any other mods at this time.

Planned Updates
In the future, I plan a few updates for the mod:

~ New wantss: I want to include some new wants relating to later packs. Additionally, I want to include a few more to line up better with Sims 2; particularly for Pleasure, Family and Romance sims.
~ Interaction Menu: I have had a request for an interaction to add the traits to the Sim, so I will be working to include this in an update soon(ish).
~ An interaction to allow Sims to discover another Sim’s personality.

  1. I downloaded it and Franks mod but the rewards aren’t showing up in the reward store. Will it only work for sims/games made after the installation or something?

  2. Hi! I downloaded everything needed, I have both the Pack Test and XML Injector but the traits just don’t seem to show up. What else could be causing it?

    1. Hi! Okay, first off, have you made sure you don’t accidentally have 2 versions of the XML Injector? That sometimes happens. Secondly, have you made sure that both the XML Injector and the Pack Test are not in a subfolder?
Finally, when did you download the XML Injector? In other words, do you have at least Version 3 of the mod?

  3. I’ve noticed some whims aren’t completing, for example the Own A Business whim, and Become A Spellcaster whim

    1. Okay, that’s odd.
The Own A Business should complete when you go to purchase a business. Which business did you try; Veterinary, Retail or Restaurant?
And for the Spellcaster, were you going through the Rite of Ascension?
Just so I know what I’m looking for. Thanks!

      1. My sim bought a retail business, and as for spellcaster, I went to the sage and chose “ask how to use magic” interaction, where they have you collect the motes.

      2. Okay. How did your Sim buy the business: by phone or on the computer or something different?
The reason I ask is so I can work out if I missed something when creating the whims. The more information I have, the better.
Thanks for the info on the spellcaster one; I’ll check that out and update accordingly.

      3. I honestly don’t remember if it was through the phone or computer, but it definitely wasn’t any other way.
Thanks so much for the help, I love this mod and it really helped me get back into the game.

      4. It would have been computer: I’ve found the error and the fix will be up at the weekend, once I finish testing the update!
No problem at all, thanks for the feedback!
